Description | IDEX is a US-based, non-profit organization working for economic justice among low-income communities in 7 countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. We work in partnership with grassroots groups whose programs promote economic development and rights for women, indigenous peoples and young people. Since 1985, we have channelled $2.1 million to more than 500 community projects and 60 grassroots groups. At the same time, we actively engage North Americans in the challenges facing these communities, advocating for structural change and resources that benefit them. Our partnership work is based on openness, shared-decision making and democratic processes, in order to shift the imbalance of power between between North/South, funder/ funded, global/grassroots. |
