| Description | The U.S. Department of Agriculture is convening a ministerial-level Conference on Agricultural Science and Technology to promote the U.S. model of industrialized agriculture including genetically engineered crops, pesticides and irradiation. Ministers of agriculture, environment and trade, from 180 countries have been invited to come to Sacramento, CA., June 23-25. Agricultural trade liberalization will also be a focal point of this Ministerial. A coalition of NGOs propose to bring representatives from the North and the South who can articulate alternative messages. Activities we are planning include delegate briefings and press conferences, distributing information packets, holding a rally and other public events. |
