| Description | The EGA is a voluntary association of foundations and giving programs concerned with the protection of the natural environment. The purposes of the Association are:
* To promote recognition that the environment and its inhabitants are endangered by unsustainable human activities.
* To facilitate communication, foster co- operation, and develop collaboration among active and potential members.
* To increase awareness of the relation- ships between environmental grantmaking and other areas of grantmaking and to encourage all types of philanthropic programs to support environmentally-related activities.
* To provide the means by which members can improve their effectiveness as grantmakers.
* To increase the resources available to address environmental concerns.
* To communicate grantmaker interests and activities to grantseekers and other interested parties.
* To help members to set examples of environmental responsibility through their policies and operations, and to encourage others to do likewise.
