| Description | The Appalachian Coalition is a 501(c)3 organization of diverse individuals, organizations, community groups, and educational institutions working toward social, economic, and environmental justice and sustainability. The coalition integrates popular education, progressive networking, community-based and applied research to assist communities. The coalition envisions an “Appalachian Agenda 21” and is active in linking local communities to the global governance process through the UN Commission on Sustainable Development. A citizens campaign for leadership on sustainability is the coalition’s major initiative in 2004. |
