DescriptionGlobal Justice (GJ) was founded in February 2001 to educate, train, and mobilize a student constituency around issues of global health, trade, and economic justice. Through a model of student-driven, grassroots campaigns, GJ builds a life-term commitment among college and high school students to promote global human rights and democracy In 2004 Global Justice co-launched with Oxfam America the Student Trade Justice Campaign. The Campaign seeks to build a grassroots student network that advances greater equity, democracy and justice within the World Trade Organization, regional trade agreements and the policies of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. The Campaign has mobilized significant opposition to DR-CAFTA, while building broader student support for and understanding of trade justice. The Campaign platform promotes trade rules that prioritize sustainable development and poverty eradication.
