| Project overview | The OWINFS proposal, "Effective International Moblizaiton Towards the WTO's 5th Ministerial in Cancun and Beyond", was jointly crafted by several OWINFS members from several continents. Our collective goal is to plan and carry out the types of international lobbying and organizizing initiatives--both before and at Cancun--that can help stop the expanion of the WTO into new areas (such as investment)at the Cancun Ministerial. We are also interested in rolling back the harmful provisions of the WTO. The proposal contains three areas of focus: 1) Building and effective international campaign in the run-up to the Ministerial, 2) Building civil society strength in Mexico in the run-up to the Ministerial, and 3) Ensuring success during the Ministerial. Under these three broad iniatives lie a total of twenty action items. We believe this proposal reflects one of the largest, coordinated, international organizing initiatives toward Cancun.
