End date | Monday, December 1, 2024 |
Project overview | The Council of Canadians is Canada’s largest public interest group with 100,000 members and 70 chapters throughout the country. The Council is currently mobilizing its chapter activists and allies on the WTO and FTAA through a series of 15 public events and strategy workshops.
We are seeking funding for the international component of this work. “Making the links” will strengthen international resistance to the official trade agenda in Cancun and Miami by combining an analysis of key issues with popular education, communications and outreach, and providing live links between activists in Cancun and international mobilizations.
This project has three components:
1. Translation and distribution to our international networks of Maude Barlow and Tony Clarke’s “Citizen’s Guide to the WTO & FTAA”.
2. Providing a live link for international activists in Cancun to connect with community teach-ins and mobilizations in other countries on the September 9th and 13th international days of action.
3. Ensuring representation of Canadian aboriginal, youth and other activists at the strategy meetings and other activities in Cancun.
