| Project overview | International Rivers Network is working with the communities affected by the Chixoy Dam in Guatemala in their long campaign for reparations for damages they have suffered. This work will include disseminating and publicizing the recent multi-volume groundbreaking report we helped to coordinate on the damages associated with the dam. IRN will work to persuade the Guatemalan government to begin negotiations with the affected communities, and to encourage the World Bank and Inter-American Development Bank to support these negotiations. Once the negotiations are finalized we will support and monitor efforts to implement reparations. |
