Project overview | U.S. citizens are rapidly falling onto the lower rungs of a global double standard of environmental health. “The Path Up” will investigate areas of friction between the United States and Europe they devise conflicting models of how to regulate the abundant sources of toxicity in our lives. We will investigate the emergence of dual track safety and environmental standards, competing notions of corporate accountability; the EU’s challenges to U.S. industry’s long-sacred principles of production; and how the Bush administration and American industry are attempting to derail these changes. This project will offer, through a book, radio documentary and associated magazine and newspaper stories, a new paradigm through which we can approach environmental and health challenges in the United States. |
